The District of West Kelowna is in the market for a Manager of Finance. The municipality is advertising the position in an effort to lessen some of the workload on current current Chief Financial Officer, Jim Zaffino, and his staff. According to the posting, the Manager of Finance would be responsible for general accounting functions and have a knowledge of budgeting, financial statements, property taxes, utilities, payables, business licenses and collections. Since becoming a municipality in December 2007, West Kelowna has slowly built up an employee base.
To date, according to the municipality's organizational chart, West Kelowna has 71 employees, 29 paid firefighters and 60 paid-on-call firefighters. Two positions, Manager of Finance and a mechanic within the engineering department, have yet to be filled.
