A miscommunication resulted in some very tense moments for an Okanagan man. John Sernick reported his parents missing over the weekend after they failed to return home from a trip to Surrey. Dennis and Josie Jensen, Vernon residents, were expected to arrive back home Friday for a meeting. When they didn’t arrive, their son John became worried. A news release was issued by the RCMP Sunday morning, asking anyone with information to contact them. Sunday afternoon, John got a call from his parents. “They had just called to say they were home okay. They had stopped for a couple of days in Hope and obviously there was a miscommunication somewhere,” says Sernick. He says his parents didn’t realize they had been reported missing. “I’m just so glad they are okay. I was really worried.” Sernick says he is amazed at how much support and help he received from people after he reported his parents missing.
