NORD Taxes

The North Okanagan regional district set its five year financial plan this week. Vernon will pay 145-thousand dollars less in requisitions to the regional district after deciding to take on functions like economic development. NORD chair Eric Foster says the regional district will no longer have an economic development officer. Foster says Vernon has offered use of its economic function on a fee per use basis. Vernon will pay nearly nine million dollars in requisitions to NORD in 2009.

According to councillor Bob Spiers, The economic development function will cost the city a quarter of a million dollars in it's first year.
