On Friday, residents of Osoyoos will learn more about whether Stu Wells will continue as their mayor. The Concerned Citizens of Osoyoos group charged Mayor Wells with conflict of interest in his voting as councillor and mayor over the past several years. The issues arose because Wells is in partnership with a local development company. “There’s no news now, but council will be dealing with this matter in a special meeting on Friday,” said Osoyoos CAO, Barry Romanko. “We still need to clarify something within that legal opinion (we currently have) and then council will discuss the additional clarification information and then make a decision as to which way they’re going to proceed. That’s what they will let the public know.” Council will meet in camera at 8:30 a.m. Friday to resolve the issue. At 9 a.m. it will host a public meeting on the issue at council chambers.
