Terasen Gas cuts rates for Lower Mainland, B.C. Interior

CBC News:

Terasen Gas customers around Vancouver and the B.C. Interior can expect to see their natural gas rates cut by 13 per cent on April 1. The rate cuts were approved by the B.C. Utilities Commission on Friday and apply to the Lower Mainland, the Fraser Valley and the Interior, North and Kootenay regions. They won't apply to customers on Vancouver Island, the Sunshine Coast, Whistler and Power River. Those areas, which are on a different rate structure, could get a rate cut later in the year, according to Terasen Gas spokesman Mike Chisholm. The rate cuts are the result of lower demand and falling prices for natural gas worldwide, as a result of the global economic slow down. Last April, Terasen increased rates for Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley, and the Interior, North and Kootenay regions by 11 per cent after world energy prices rose.
