Wayne Moore -Mar 10, 2009 CASTANET:
Steve Thomson has won the Liberal party nomination in the Kelowna-Mission riding, beating Maxine DeHart and Jack Pinder. The nomination vote was held at the EECO Centre Monday. Riding president, Jock Craddock, says 1,539 preferential ballots were cast. As is party policy, individual candidate vote totals were not released. Three other candidates, Mark Thompson, Brad Field and Nicole Bullock pulled out of the race. MLA Sindi Hawkins, has held the riding for the Liberal for the past 13 years. Hawkins announced late last year she would not seek re-election for health reasons. The provincial election is set for May 12.
