Former Clinical Director confirms ID of IHA official

Charmaine de Silva - Kelowna 105.7 SUNFM:

More information is surfacing in the Interior Health pathology scandal. The former Clinical Director of Kelowna General Hospital's labs says it was a high-level Interior Health administrator who warned him not to make "noise" about his many concerns, prior to May's provincial election. Doctor Kirk Ready has confirmed it was Okanagan Health Services Area Labs Administrative Director, Marty Woods, who gave him the explicit warning. Astral Media Radio has made attempts to speak to Marty Woods about these latest allegations, however Interior Health has informed us he will not be commenting on the issue. In a letter written to Interior Health Authority CEO Murray Ramsden, Dr. Ready writes he made his concerns about breast cancer pathology known to Woods while he was employed by the health authority, but nothing was done. Last week, a letter written by Dr. Ready was leaked, outlining a number of deficiencies within OHSA labs, including the possiblity of erroneous estrogen receptor tests, faulty lab equipment, and over-worked pathologists. While the BC NDP is calling for a full public review, Health Minister George Abbott says it is not neccessary.
