CASTANET:
The Princeton RCMP Detachment was the scene of an armed standoff Friday. Police say an 18-year-old man, armed with a 9mm semi-automatic pistol, was eventually arrested after breaking into the detachment. "Preliminary investigation suggests the man broke into the detachment with the purpose of damaging the building and shooting any police officers he believed were inside," says Constable, Steve Holmes. "The police Emergency Response Team was called out and secured an area around the detachment building. The suspect was contacted by cellular phone and he eventually surrendered to police." Holmes says the man was injured while damaging parked police cruisers and the detachment windows. No members of the public or RCMP were hurt during the incident. The man is in custody pending charges and a court appearance.
