Vipers stifle Kings

Don Klepp - Apr 4, 2009 Castanet:

Riding two fortunate first-period bounces and a stifling defence, the Vernon Vipers blanked the high-flying Powell River Kings 4-0 in Powell River, Friday evening. Andrew Hammond posted his third shutout of the playoffs as he turned aside 23 Powell River shots. Many of those shots occurred in the first half of the second period during the Kings’ only real sustained pressure of the game. That pressure led to two Powell River power plays, but Andrew Hammond latched onto loose pucks and the Viper defencemen cleared the rebounds that their goaltender was unable to smother.
