Peter McIntyre Tuesday, 12 May 2009 107.5 KISSFM:
The manager of a Vernon exotic dance club is urging city council to reconsider its request for extended hours. 'On The Roxx' wants to serve alcohol starting at 5 pm, two hours earlier than now, which council did not support at their last meeting. Greg--who didn't want his last name used-- says their business gets a bad rap even though they've never had problems with liquor inspectors...or police. He says they've definitely built a business that's reputable, law abiding and attracts couples and professionals not to mention tourists.Greg says the fact they're located between the Women's Centre and Salvation Army gives people the wrong impression their customers are mostly homeless or drug addicts.Councillor Jack Gilroy supports the extra hours, saying it's more about attracting sports fans to watch hockey, than the exotic dancers.
