Lumby By-election

Starlee Speers - Vernon 105.7 SUNFM:

Lumby voters could be going to the polls this summer. Eric Foster's election as MLA on Tuesday means Lumby is looking for a new mayor. Village Administrator Frank Kosa says there would need to be a nomination period for the vacancy.Kosa says there will be an 80 day byelection period. He says if a Lumby councillor wants to run for mayor they'd have to resign their seat. Kosa says legally Foster could keep his positions as Lumby mayor and the chair of the North Okanagan Regional district. He says Foster could have stayed on during the campaign as well but chose not to. Foster tells SunFM however, he will be resigning from both positions.
