The city of Vernon has shut down blasting work at a site on Middleton mountain after work being done Tuesday dislodged large boulders, damaging two homes Ed Stranks with the city's engineering development services says the developer will be responsible for covering the costs of the damage. "They can't do any more blasting work up there until we get a report on what happened, on what they're going to do to deal with, and they're going to have to deal with all the property owners up there who have any type of damage from what happened. Mt. Ida Drive Home owner Aaron Mackie and his young son were home this morning when he heard the large rock hit the side of his house. Another large boulder crushed part of his neighbours outdoor dog kennel, which was empty at the time. Jock's blasting and Sons" was contracted to do the work for Calgary based company "Alderbaran Homes"In March, a backyard a few homes up was damaged after a mudslide ripped down the hillside.

It's no wonder the neighbours are nervous living next to a construction site where rock blasting is underway.
