New Air and Wheels Event

Written by Peter McIntyre Friday, 05 June 2009 107.5 KISSFM:

Vernon's Father's Day Airshow was grounded a few years ago--- but a new event on the same day is looking to take flight. Dave Weatherall from the Silver Star Rotary Club's organizing committee says the 'Wings and Wheels' event will be held June 21st at the airport. Weatherall tells KISS FM, "This is a bigger and better idea. The airport will actually be open so there will be airplane traffic moving in and out all day. There will be everything from NASCAR's there, forestry equipment, tractors. It's a big family event so what we're hoping to do is get people on site for at least a couple hours looking at exhibits, participating. There will be some very good prizes." The cost will be $5 per person or $20 per family with the proceeds going to Rotary projects in the community. The previous Father's Day Airshow ran for three years until 2007.
