Pesticide Ban For Coldstream

Coldstream's going ahead with a ban on pesticide use on park lands in the municipality. Mayor Jim Garlick says the motion passed 4-3 Monday night. He says the parks in the municipality will become the test base for the parks system as a whole. They're also asking another big player to come on board. The mayor tells KISS FM, "There's a letter of request going to the school district asking that they also ban the use of pesticides/herbicides on the school grounds." Garlick says it's in reference to Coldstream, but they're hoping the board would go further. The District will also ask the school board to adhere to alternate day watering rules, and to not water in the middle of the day.
