Plans for a new outdoor swimming facility in Armstrong have hit choppy waters. The bids to construct the new pool building were all far higher than expected, with the lowest one 50 percent above the estimated one million dollar cost. Spallumcheen councillor Dave Brew says the numbers "blew them out of the water" and the parks and rec commission decided not to accept any tenders at this point. The commission will spend the new few weeks deciding what to do, but officials admit the proposed start this spring may be delayed. The plan was to complete the building this fall at which time the pool tank could be installed.
