Stop BC Library Cuts

Background

BC provincial public libraries have not yet received their 2009 annual operating grants from the provincial government, nor have they been told how much money they will be receiving – both of which usually happen earlier in the fiscal year. There have been strong indications that the Province has decided to stop funding libraries and that this funding may be cut from the current and subsequent budgets.

What You Can Do to Help

BC’s public libraries are important to the communities they serve, make sure the BC provincial government knows how you feel about public libraries not yet receiving their 2009 annual operating grants.

Why the effort to stop the waste of money on Public Libraries?

The primary reason for libraries today is for COF's (Certified old Farts) to put their name on a list for the latest book and save themselves a few bucks.

The Internet today will provide anyone with the information they require on any subject.

If the Library wishes to become relevant, they should open store front's in local strip malls with computer access and not build anymore edifices.

And yes I have been in the Vernon Library a couple of times in the past year, but they offer limited selection and few resources.
