The Minister of Community Development made a stop in Kelowna Monday morning, meeting with Okanagan mayors. Bill Bennett says he provided a listening ear as the mayor's put forth a number of issues:"Governance was a big topic. But they're also interested in transit - valley-wide transit. They're (also) interested in issues like water quality. We took copious notes and we'll go back to Victoria. We'll going to have to arrange some follow-up meetings with each of the mayors to discuss the particular situations they raised today." One of the issues the mayor's failed to address with the minister is the controversial Harmonized Sales Tax.Bennett says, "We had to make a pretty quick decision, and we started talking about that decision after the election - not before the election... We think it's the right decision, and we think time will show that it was the correct decision for BC."
