Cops for Kids not soliciting by phone

by RCMP - Story: 48656 Aug 4, 2009 / 5:00 pm CASTANET

Recently, the public have been receiving calls from a Marketing company who claims to be working on behalf of the Canadian Police Association and is fund raising for a program called Cops for Kids Safety. A lot of the calls are made to seniors and, in some instances, aggressive tactics have been used to solicit funds from them. As a result, concerned parties are contacting the Cops for Kids Charitable Foundation, believing them to be the organization responsible. The Cops for Kids Charitable Foundation is a Regional B.C. Charity that raises funds to support local children in crisis. The public needs to be aware that the Cops for Kids Charitable Foundation does not employ the use of cold calls to members of the public for their fund raising.

The Cops for Kids Charitable Foundation has contacted the marketing company in question, as well as the Canadian Police Association to voice their concerns. It is asked that if the public receive such cold marketing calls and wish them to stop, please advise the caller to place them on their DO NOT CALL list. They can also register with National Do No Call list at:
