An undercover operation in Vernon has resulted in four men being encouraged to go to school. 'John' school. Officers from Vernon, along with undercover officers, completed a two day operation into the sex trade which saw the arrests of five women and four men on prostitution offenses. RCMP spokesperson, Gord Molendyk, says the reason for this sort of operation is to curb this activity in the downtown core. “We have been receiving a number of complaints recently and we have had a couple of incidents involving the woman who work in the trade recently. Our officers attempt to assist the women to leave the trade,” says Molendyk. He says they try to get the men to go to 'John' school to understand the effects their actions have in the community. “John school money has been allocated back to Vernon because of the referrals that were made to the John Howard Society John Program. This year the money, $500, has been allocated to the Vernon Woman’s Centre.”
