The village of Lumby's new mayor is Kevin Acton.The massage therapist and former village councillor won Saturday's by-election by a wide margin over semi retired carpenter Walter Ozero.Acton got 385 votes to 34 for Ozero.
Janet Green is the new councillor on Lumby council.She beat out six other candidates with 120 votes followed by Nick Hodge with 104, Brad Andres 92, Woody Kuraoka 40, Stephanie McCluskey-Davyduke 37, Matt Boos 12, Julie Pilon 10.
The new mayor and councillor will be sworn in August 31.The by-election was held after Eric Foster stepped down in May after becoming the new Vernon Monashee MLA.1,200 residents were eligible to vote and 418 cast a ballot.That's an unofficial turnout of 34.8 percent.
