Three people escaped serious injury when their plane went down in the north end of Okanagan Lake Thursday afternoon. RCMP spokesman Gord Molendyk says the plane, a Cessna 177, took off from Vernon airport at about 2 p.m. "The pilot started to experience some sputtering or some problem with the engine. He turned to come back to the airport and didn't make it and set the plane down on the water," says Molendyk. "Everyone got out okay and they were picked up by boaters on the lake." All three people on board were all from the Vernon area. Molendyk says the Transportation Safety Board has been contacted and is heading to the scene. He says there is some talk of attempting to recover the plane which went down to the bottom of the lake.
