Regional Biosolids Composting Facility – Upgrades and Improvements MEETING TONIGHT

The Regional Biosolids Composting Facility has been undergoing a series of operational and equipment improvements over the last few months. Staff from the facility have been working diligently to make improvements that will optimize processes and improve efficiencies and odour generation. These efforts have been closely monitored over the last few months by independent labs specializing in odour evaluation.

After several months of data collection, results have now been received. The City of Vernon and the City of Kelowna would like to take this opportunity to discuss the operational changes that have been made to date and to share the results of the odour evaluation with the residents that have been impacted by this facility.

An Open House will be held:
Location: Council Chambers, Vernon City Hall
When: Wednesday August 5th Time 6:30 pm

A presentation will be made by our consultant, Mr. David Gibson from the MMM Group. Mr. Gibson will provide an update on the operational changes and the results of the odour evaluation and characterization study. Representatives from the City of Kelowna and the City of Vernon will also be available to discuss any concerns from the residents and to receive input as to the impact of the operational changes. Options for future improvements will also be discussed.

If you have any questions regarding the Open House, please contact Mr. Gordon Light at (250) 469-8795. We look forward to seeing you there.
