Stanley Cup coming to Vernon THIS SUNDAY

It's one of Canada's most sought after cups and it will be in the North Okanagan this weekend. The Stanley Cup will be brought to Vernon Sunday by Pittsburgh Penguins winger Eric Godard. Godard, 29, will be bringing the Cup to his hometown for the day, starting with the Vernon Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs gym. Marketing coordinator for the Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs, Erin Turvey, says members are invited for an exclusive visit with Godard and the Cup from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. “After that time, kids and families from the general public are welcome until noon. There will also be refreshments provided courtesy of Tim Hortons and all donations go to support Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs programs and services,” says Turvey. She says Godard also plans to take the Cup out on Okanagan Lake for a few hours with friends and family Sunday afternoon and then to the Blue Heron pub in the evening for the general public. “Godard is staying in Vernon this summer, working with a personal trainer before returning to Pittsburgh in September.”
