Dogs Save Woman's Life


police_dogThe Vernon RCMP's dog unit is being credited with saving a woman's life.Around 3 this morning, the dispatch centre received a call from a distraught woman saying she was by the train tracks and was going to kill herself.The dog team was brought in to searched the north end of the city, and shortly after the woman was found hiding between two buildings.She had taken a large number of pills, and consumed alcohol. The 50 year old woman---- who was believed involved in a hit and run incident earlier that night---- was taken to hospital for treatment and assessment.

Vernon RCMP spokesman Gord Molendyk says the police dog unit in Vernon has been very busy in the North Okanagan over the past week the unit has located an intoxicated male passed out in the ditch in Enderby. They located a suspect in a motor vehicle accident involving a vehicle breaking off a power pole where the driver left the scene and went to a nearby residence in the L&A area of the City, as well as recovering property from a break and enter recently.
