Mayes Stays

The Conservatives in Okanagan-Shuswap won't be holding a nomination meeting ahead of a possible federal election this fall. MP Colin Mayes says members rejected that route when asked about it by letter last May. He says similar letters were sent to Tory constituencies across the country.Mayes says he'll be the Conservative candidate if there is an election although he hopes it doesn't happen. Conservative members in the region were asked if they wanted him to stay on and 80 percent said yes. He says it's too expensive and the Tories have done well despite the troubled economy.

Considering his base is primarily in the Salmon Arm area, what other outcome would there be to a question of the Conservatives.

At least with the Green party in the next election we will have an alternative to current invisible MP.
