Vernon is one of 15 sites around the province holding a 'Stop The HST' rally. Miles Lehn is organizing the event at noon Saturday on the steps of the Vernon courthouse. He says the public is still angry about the Liberal government's plans for the harmonized provincial and GST tax. "The hits we're getting on our website, the phone calls all the 14 or 15 the rally organizers are getting, and the word from Bill Vander Zalm (former Premier, rally organizer) is that the opposition is growing not shrinking. "Lehn expects to see between 100 and 250 people at the rally. (The 12 percent tax) is going to cost each man woman and child over $500 a year in taxes and how the Liberals feel that's going to stimulate the economy, I have no idea."
One of the speakers will be Green Party candidate Huguette Allen, while statements will also be read from Vander Zalm, The BC Conservatives and NDP.

Does Allen support the HST? It seems like her party does.
$500 a year in taxes? That means every man, woman and child would have to spend $7,142.86 per year on items that currently are exempt from PST but are taxed GST. Wow. I know I don't, and my child certainly doesn't. I'm not a fan of the HST, but where are they getting these figures from?
The Green Party is indeed in favour of the HST. How does Allen dare speak at this rally?
