Vernon RCMP press release/edited
At about 10:30 a.m. the RCMP in Falkland were called to a rural property for a report of an attempted robbery. The victim reported that a young male wearing a grey hoodie and a balaclava pulled over his face produced a knife and demanded money. The victim challenged the suspect who then took off on foot. The Police Service Dog unit out of Vernon was called in and they were able to track the suspect from where the crime happened back along the railway tracks to a residence where the suspect was found hiding.
The 17-year-old was arrested and returned to cells in Vernon where he is expected to appear in court and face charges of attempted armed robbery.
