Lepage: Dangerous Offender

A North Okanagan convict has been declared a dangerous offender. The ruling means that 58 year old Paul Lepage (pictured) will be given an indefinite prison sentence for the kidnapping, drugging and sexually assaulting of an 11 year old Armstrong girl in 2006.

Lepage showed no emotion when BC Supreme Court justice Peter Rogers made his ruling, based on Lepage's long criminal record which dates back 30 years.

Defense lawyer Rob Dhanu told reporters Lepage has 30 days to decide if there will be an appeal.

"This was a very tough case for everybody that was involved. We have to accept and respect the court's decision in this matter and now it's up to Mr. Lepage to decide what he wants to do."

The victim and her family were in court for the decision and she told reporters afterwards she was "glad" Lepage was designated a dangerous offender and hopes "he learns a lesson."
