UBCM Good Busness for Vernon

It looks like a hotel tax could get the go ahead later this year in Vernon. Vernon mayor Wayne Lippert recently met with Tourism Minister Kevin Krueger, who says Victoria is prepared to approve the city led levy.Lippert says he didn't get an exact date, but says it'll be coming soon. Revenue from the two percent tax would be used for tourism marketing.

On another matter, Krueger told the mayor he supports efforts to make the O' Keefe Ranch viable, including supporting grants and adding camping facilities. Lippert says the the minister indicated Victoria would consider grant requests for the ranch and a proposal to add an R-V campground. Lippert says the rejection of an earlier bid for a campsite there, was based on the way it was laid out and how much land it would use.

Wayne, the Ministry considers grant requests all the time. Sure, go ahead and fill 'em out. But, don't blow smoke up your taxpayers butts about actually getting any money out of a government that is pulling in the reins big time, though.
Didja get it in writing, like maybe in the form of a cheque???
