RCMP are warning the public to be on alert for a violent sexual offender who could be headed for the BC Interior. A Canada-Wide Warrant has been issued for Dean Robert Zimmerman after he left his Calgary home during curfew hours earlier this week.Constable Steve Holmes says Zimmerman was arrested in Kamloops for several violent sexual assaults, and there's also evidence he's been in Kelowna.
Holmes says Zimmerman could be headed back to BC: "The fact that his risk to re-offend is very high, the fact that he is a very dangerous sexual offender, the fact that he walked away from a residence and is now wanted under a Canada Wide Warrant... basically, it puts us in a position of weighing the public's safety."
Zimmerman is 44 years old, 5'9" and 205 pounds. He has a bald head and brown eyes.Holmes says, "If anyone sees him, then they need to call the police right away. Do not interact with him. Just go somewhere and call the police and have us deal with him."
