Fire leads to grow op discovery

A report of a fire has led to the discovery of a grow op in the North Okanagan. Wednesday night at about 11 p.m., the Falkland Fire Department responded to a report of a fire in an out building at a rural property in the 4800 block of Hoath Road. RCMP spokesperson, Gord Molendyk, says while dealing with the fire, they discovered that the building contained a grow operation. “Police were called to the scene and they obtained a warrant to search the other buildings on the property the next morning. The search of the property located 4,100 plants in various stages of development,” says Molendyk. He says officers advised that they estimated another 2,000 plants were destroyed in the fire. “One adult male was arrested in the area while they were conducting their investigation.” The file remains under investigation.
