GVAC Future Debated

Regional politicians could decide today if the Greater Vernon Advisory Committee should be disbanded. The city of Vernon has put that motion forward to the NORD board. Vernon mayor Wayne Lippert says there needs to be a change. He tells KISS FM, "Everybody's time is important. Everybody's busy and we feel that for the most part, we don't need to have that committee." The city would like to see Greater Vernon water and parks and recreation issues decided on at the NORD board. However, the directors for Areas B and C, Mike Gavinchuk and Mike Macnabb, say they support keeping the advisory panel, saying it helps the politicians make better and more informed decisions. Lippert says the vote, if just the stakeholder groups are involved, will likely come down to the position Coldstream takes.
