The city of Vernon is looking for new areas to expand its spray irrigation program. Mayor Wayne Lippert says it would be costly but worthwhile to look at extending the lines into Coldstream and the BX. .Lippert says using that reclaimed water would preserve domestic water supplies, and help anyone else needing irrigation water, so it makes sense. Lippert says the program prevents the city from having to dispose of the product into Okanagan Lake. The system uses reclaimed waste-water to irrigate several golf courses, other operations, and farming land in the Commonage used for grazing and hay production.

Hooo boy. How many years has Vernon Council ignored the effect of rising population against shrinking land base for the spray irrigation problem and done absolutely nothing to solve it? When was the last time they acquired more land to dispose of spray effluent?
I guess Wayne has no clue what happened the last time Vernon went to its neighbours looking for land for this purpose. Someone should tell him. Or at least he should understand that there isn't any out there and make his assumptions on the effectiveness of his predecessors efforts.
