Council agreed to write a letter to the B.C. Lottery Corporation requesting that there be no reductions to proceeds distributed to non-profit organizations in Williams Lake, and that proceeds to those groups be increased.
Gaming benefits in Williams Lake include 25 lottery retailers generating $5.05 million in sales in 2008/2009. Chances Signal Point Gaming Centre generated $13.5 million in 2008/2009. The host local government payments to the City of Williams Lake were $572,115 in 2008/2009. Community gaming grants went to 53 community and charitable organizations in 2008/2009, totalling $1.5 million.
