Women ski jumpers lose appeal

CBC NEWS: Friday, November 13, 2009 4:12 PM PT

Women ski jumpers from Canada and the U.S. hoping to have their event included in the 2010 Olympics have lost their case before the B.C. Court of Appeal. The appeal was dismissed Friday in Vancouver. The skiers had argued that Vancouver's Olympic Organizing Committee should have been compelled to stage a women's ski jump event, even if such an event was not sanctioned by the International Olympic Committee. The skiers argued that, although the IOC is not subject to Canada's Charter of Rights and Freedoms with its guarantees of gender equality, VANOC is subject to the charter and should stage the event.

Its simple, just boycott the men's ski jump in February 2010.

As a former male ski jumper this decision by the IOC and VANOC is ridiculus. There are more Women ski jumpers than ski cross competitors.

And the women ski jumpers out jump the Canadian Male Ski Jumpers. The Canadian Male Jumpers will not even qualify for the first go around.
