Major renovations to Kelowna city hall's fourth floor are almost complete, but the staff who'll work there say they'll also need the better part of $300,000 in assorted techno-goodies. On Monday morning, city council gets asked to approve budget requests for a monster flatscreen TV, a 103 inch plasma, at a cost of $85,000. Staff say it'll be needed to view official presentations. They also want to buy about $200,000 in audio-visual, video-conferencing and related technical equipment. Renovating the fourth floor itself is costing Kelowna city taxpayers $1.6 million. Corporate services and information technology staff say it will roughly double the current occupancy, to 184 employees. Infrastructure planning director Randy Cleveland also says the new layout will be more efficient, with all the managers' offices in the centre of the floor.
