Big Medical Bill

A proposed new public walkway in Vernon's downtown could come with a price tag of 600-thousand dollars. That's the estimate city staff are giving for all phases of redeveloping the Vernon Medical clinic site on 31st Ave into a multi use space connecting the Civic Complex and Cenotaph Park. Council today will consider approving 200-thousand for the first phase of design and construction. Demolishing the asbestos filled building will cost around a half million dollars.

This is a prime example showing that the council has no concern about the taxpayers

With some 1200 to 1500 people either out of work or having lost their jobs in the Vernon area, is there anyone left in the City of Vernon with an ounce of common sense.

Staff too often thinks they have a God given right to spend or provide rationale for projects that have no real benefits for the needy and the homeless.

Wouldn't it be nice if staff took a half hour a week to evaluate what the city doesn't need, rather than planing spending money that doesn't come out their pockets.
