A two percent tax hike is in the works for Vernon property owners. Mayor Wayne Lippert says a draft 2010 budget will get first and second reading at the next city council meeting. However Lippert stressed that half of the proposed tax hike will go towards fixing aging infrastructure like sewers and sidewalks. A two percent hike in taxes works out to about 21 dollars per average home.
