There's no change in the leader of the Greater Vernon Advisory Committee. Vernon mayor Wayne Lippert will chair the NORD advisory panel on parks and water issues for the second straight year. He feels the panel does have a future, despite some past questions about its purpose. "We've certainly had our bumps and bruises that we went through for the first part of last year but everyone come to the realization that we need to work together, we need to talk, and I think that's a good thing." Coldstream director Gyula Kiss (pictured) challenged Lippert for the chair but lost in a secret ballot. Kiss, a former mayor of Coldstream, says he has concerns about the way Lippert and the city are handling the water devolution issue. "Everybody else is pulling out of the distribution. Coldstream hasn't. Perhaps it would be a good idea if Coldstream stays in there and maybe you would have some different opinions." Kiss went unopposed for the position of vice chairman.
