It could be the next step towards turning Kin Race Track Park into a sports facilities complex.
North Okanagan Regional District directors have approved funding a 40-thousand dollar study into adding soccer and ball fields to the site that's currently used for horse racing and some softball. NORD chairman Herman Halvorson says there was very little discussion and no opposition to the motion. He tells KISS FM, "It's going ahead in the parks plan. Everybody was pretty happy to move it forward." The Okanagan Equestrian Society which uses the venue for racing, has been ordered by NORD to vacate the site by the end of this year. However, the group says it won't leave until a court case over the usage is settled.
