Landing transportation focus of meeting

Okanagan Landing residents are being given an opportunity to provide input on road conditions. The City of Vernon will hold a town hall meeting during the first week of March on transportation-related matters in the Landing. “The Landing is in transition and there’s new development and there’s a lot of concern about the roads,” said Coun. Mary-Jo O’Keefe. “It’s important to hear what they have to say because there is a concern.” While city staff insist any major improvements to Okanagan Landing Road are a few years away, O’Keefe is convinced immediate action is needed on speeding vehicles. “What they are looking for is for the city to do some traffic calming while they wait for the long-term solutions to kick-in,” she said.

Coun. Jack Gilroy is concerned about the session and the potential response of the public.“Am I going out there to be bitched at or to present transportation plans?” he said.“I’m not going out there to be worked over.”
