Money for Vernon rooftop party

A rooftop event is $4,000 closer to happening thanks to an investment from a Government of B.C. program. 2010 Legacies Now, in partnership with the Province of B.C., is investing $4,000 in the Vernon Public Art Gallery through its Innovations Program to support Riot on the Roof. The event aims to expand the Art Gallery's audience with an art-focused event, that will be held on the rooftop of a downtown parkade. "Riot on the Roof will transform Vernon's downtown parkade from a utilitarian parking structure to a hub of artistic activity on the last weekend of summer," says Dauna Grant, Executive Director of the Vernon Public Art Gallery. "This event will showcase a variety of alternative artistic media and will include an installation segment of billboard art created for this occasion. Riot on the Roof will be a public event suitable for all ages and anyone who has an interest in exploring a range of unique art forms." Lori Baxter, Director of Arts for 2010 Legacies Now, says Innovations supports a broad range of artistic work and creative collaborations that promise to offer new experiences for audiences. “Many of these organizations are experimenting with a new process, technology or interactions across disciplines," says Baxter.
