Peter McIntyre Thursday, 18 February 2010 15:20 107.5 KISSFM:
Library books (file photo)It's being called a major announcement. The Okanagan Regional Library board will hold a news conference Monday morning to announce what it says is "major changes to library services in Vernon." Public relations officer Marla O'Brien would not provide any further details to Kiss FM, saying she'll leave that to their board chair (Ted Bacigalupo) at Monday's event. She says politicians from all local communities have all been invited to attend. It may have something to do with a new library branch, as there has been efforts behind closed doors to find a suitable site. The plan to expand the current building as part of a $30 million civic complex was rejected by Vernon residents in a 2008 referendum. Meantime, the Okanagan Regional Library has launched a redesigned website including new features and easy-to-access information.
