It was a golden moment for two North Okanagan athletes at the Paralympic Games in Vancouver. Ina Forrest from Armstrong and Sonja Gaudet of Vernon (pictured), were the second and lead respectively for Team's Canada's wheelchair curling team that won gold with an 8-7 win over Korea in the final. Both Forrest and Gaudet made 67 percent of their shots in the final, same as skip Jim Armstrong of Richmond, while third Darryl Neighbour curled 55 percent. The shot of the game came in the fourth with Team Canada sitting three stones in the house. The Korean Skip attempted a draw and came up short with his last stone. Armstrong then drew to the house and took four points, giving Canada a commanding 8-1 lead, although Korea made it close. For the 43 year old Gaudet, it was her second straight Paralympic gold medal in curling after winning as part of a different team in 2006 in Turin Italy.
