Vancouver is getting a new casino — comparable in size to the River Rock casino — on the shores of False Creek, CBC News has confirmed. According to sources, the casino will include a 500-room hotel and a gaming area large enough to accommodate 1,000 slot machines. The casino will replace the current Edgewater casino in the old B.C. pavilion from Expo 86, which has not been doing well because of problems with access and parking. Minister refused to confirm details. Tourism Minister Kevin Krueger refused to confirm the casino deal, following speculation in The Province newspaper on Friday morning that a deal was in the works. The deal reportedly has been put together by B.C. Pavilion Corporation, a Crown corporation which runs BC Place, and the Las Vegas-based Paragon company, which owns the Edgewater Casino. All Krueger would confirm was that the B.C. government will take the wraps off a deal to develop the BC Place land in as little as two weeks.

I wonder when we are getting well paying jobs to provide customers for all these new gambling casinos.
