Politicians Converge on Vernon

What do Carol James, Colin Hansen and Bill Vander Zalm have in common? All three will be in Vernon over the next two days, and one of the reasons is the HST. Finance Minister Colin Hansen will speak about his new budget --and likely the proposed tax as well ----at a Vernon Chamber luncheon Friday at the Best Western Vernon Lodge. NDP leader Carole James will bring her 'Stop the HST' campaign to a media event at Olympia Cycle and Ski Friday at 2:15. And former BC Premier Bill Vander Zalm will speak against the HST at the Schubert Centre Saturday at 3:30. Vander Zalm's petition against the tax will start April 6th and he's going around BC signing up volunteers. The campaign requires the signatures of 10 per cent of registered voters in all 85 electoral districts to be considered by the BC Legislature.
