Another non profit group that has lost its provincial funding, is turning to local government for help. Gallery Vertigo is asking NORD and the Greater Vernon Advisory Committee for $15,000 in annual funding. B-X Swan Lake director Mike Gavinchuk rules it out, given the state of the economy, but G-VAC chair Wayne Lippert says the gallery has proven to be a function worth supporting. "It's well attended and well used, and it does have the support of the Vernon Art Gallery." Gallery members say they've reached the point where paid staff is needed to meet the growing demands of the community. GVAC will discuss the request at its next meeting.

When did the Vernon Art Gallery start supporting Vertigo? Tell Lippert that there are lots of worthwhile things in Vernon, but it is not the job of the taxpayer to support them via taxation.
This is not the job of the local taxpayer to help them out.
