Water Rates Rise

NORD directors have approved a 9 % hike for water fees, and even more in the summer months
Greater Vernon water users are facing an across the board nine percent increase in water fees which will rise to 92 cents per cubic meter once the bylaw is passed. As well NORD directors have approved a rate of a dollar ten per cubic meter for July to September, the heavy summer use period, to encourage people to conserve water. A cubic meter is 1,000 litres. There's an added job for the utility's staff, to talk to those in the farming sector and report back with recommendations on who should qualify for the lower irrigation rate.
