Castanet Staff - Story: Apr 21, 2010 / 3:00 pm
A Vernon man with more than 60 convictions and four outstanding warrants is back behind bars. Richard Clarke, 49, was arrested Tuesday afternoon after members of the Community Response Unit noticed a vehicle driving erratically on Silver Star Road. RCMP spokesman Gord Molendyk, says Clarke was behind the wheel of a blue pick-up truck that was spotted weaving back and forth over the centre line. He says the vehicle was also improperly insured. Clarke, who has outstanding warrants for breach of probation, theft under and failure to appear, was arrested at the scene. He faces several other charges under the motor vehicle act related to Tuesday's incident. Clark is expected to appear in court Wednesday. "One of the strategic priorities for the Vernon/North Okanagan Detachment is crime reduction, which includes monitoring the activities of our prolific offenders," says Molendyk. "Sometimes they help us by drawing attention to themselves more than others."
