Team members wanted for waste plan

The City of Vernon is looking for a little waste help. Vernon is updating their Liquid Waste Management Plan, which hasn't been updated for more than a decade. To facilitate that update, the City is implementing stage three of their three-stage update plan, which means setting up a committee made up of local representatives. "The Local Advisory Committee (LAC) will have members from community groups such as the Chamber of Commerce and from community sectors such as agriculture, environment, and development. LAC members will review and provide feedback on existing wastewater management challenges and options presented by the TAC, and will ensure that proposed policies, practices, programs and projects are in the best interests of all Vernon residents," says a City of Vernon press release. The update is intended to "chart a course of action for managing storm water, collecting and treating sewage and other waste waters, and for disposing of or reusing wastewater effluent (reclaimed water)."

Anyone interested in being part of the LAC is asked to contact vernonLWMP@urban-systems.com before April 30, 2010.
